The Gulf Highway
The Gulf Highway or Gulf Track as it more commonly called takes you from 750km overland from Normanton in Queensland to Borroloola in the Northern Territory. Travel during the dry season from April to October and it will take you on a journey into the depths of the Australian outback, past historic gold mining towns, raging rivers (which you must take care when crossing), red dust plains and sparse growth and maybe even the odd thirsty kangaroo or two. Only experienced drivers should take this road as it really tests driver against road and country.
