Curtain Tree Fig
The Curtain Fig Tree is the grandest tree you'll find in the Atherton Tablelands and one of the best examples is just outside the town of Yungaburra. These strangler figs plant their seed on top of a host tree and grows its roots down to the ground so it can steal the host tree nutrients. Finally the host tree is strangled to death - hence the name - and grow to become the large trees we see today. This happens over thousands of years and you can see great examples of these once you head into the rainforest.
