Poruma Island
Once known as Coconut Island, Poruma Island is back to its original name and is located about 130km to the north east of Thursday Island. The island is home to about 180 locals and during turtle breeding season this number grows exponentially as many sea turtles use the island as a hatchery. The island has stunning beaches, ancient palm trees, colourful birdlife, World War II relics and multi-award winning resort.
