Black Mountain
Black Mountain National Park is just half an hour west of Cooktown and is a place of legend with stories of people, horses and mobs of cattle going disappearing into the labyrinth of black rock - almost a bit like Queensland's own version of Picnic At Hanging Rock. The land is unique with gigantic granite boulders, interesting wildlife and seeped in Aboriginal history. The traditional owners of Kalkajaka welcome visitors but request you respect this sacred place.
