Nature's Powerhouse
One of the must-sees when visiting Cooktown is Nature's Powerhouse an Environment Interpretive Centre full of visitor information, local history, botanical information and more. This house of learning is located amongst 62 hectares of the Cooktown Botanic Gardens. Nature's Powerhouse was established back in 1878 and the gardens they sit in are the second oldest in Queensland. Step inside this oasis of tropical flowers, brilliant foliage and visit galleries dedicated to preserving historic botanical information. While you wander stop in at Cooktown's prettiest cafe, Vera's, for a delicious sandwich or sweet.
