Endeavour River, Cooktown - Picture Tour

Endeavour River, Cooktown

After Captain Cook damaged his ship on the reef off Cooktown he made the decision to beach his ship, the HM Bark Endeavour, on the mouth of what we call the Endeavour River. Cook and his crew remained here for 7 weeks whilst repairs were made. Once here the crew made the most of their stopover as they struck up relationships with the local Aborigines and discovered the wonders of the area's flora and fauna. The river today is a wonderful spot for fishing, boat charters and crocspotting!
